doubleheader. let's go to baltimore where they honored the late art modell. he brought the ravens to baltimore in '96. led from start to finish. joe flacco dismannedled cinci's defense. ed reed sealed the deal in the third, picked off andy dalton. rumbled down the sidelines. soared into the end zone. ravens had everything going they won it 44-13. raiders had some of the most passionate fans in the league, well, their team, that's another story. chargers grabbed the lead. philip rivers to malcolm floyd. san diego up 10-0 in the half. then the wheels fell off. their special teams were anything but. the mistakes added up and the raiders played themselves out of the game. chargers won it 22-16. >>> from the gridiron to the diamond, they beat the tigers. alex rios and a.j. pra sin ski had back to back homers. they had a 6-1 win. pirates and reds played into the wee hours of the night. two aboard for ryan lud wik. ripped a grounder to short. chase dard doe the diving stop. bobbled the throw. in came the winning run. >>> we've saved the best for last. the men's final, the u.s. open was one for the ag

on the first day of school in baltimore is finally home. daniel was shot last month at the high school. he left the hospital yesterday after spending two weeks in the hospital. he has down syndrome and suffered a bruised lung, a wound in his torso. the gunman is being charged as an adult with attempted murder and assault. >>> today, players fans, family and friends will say final good-byes to art modell. last night, they played tribute with helmet decals. a video before the game. he's best known for bringing football back to baltimore and helping to establish monday night football. he died on thursday at the age of 87. >>> government task force says women with an average risk of ovarian cancer don't need annual screenings for the disease. the u.s. preventive services says the screenings don't reduce the numbers of deaths ovarian cancer causes. the panel says the test could do more harm than good. results are false positive and can lead women who don't have cancer to have major surgery. >>> the next time your kid has a sore throat, don't give them anything. they are suggesting most sore throats

in frederick. 83 in baltimore. 82 towards la plata. a very warm atmosphere. take a look at the heat intex. even at this hour even though we're not dealing with a whole lot of sunshine, 90 in dc. 96 toward frederick, soupy atmo. a tu stofew storms trying to ma their way toward the metro area down to the south and west. those should die out over the next couple of hours. what may not die out, though, are these showers down here toward the south. some very heavy rain down around roanoke right now. this is a boundary that looks like it's going to stay together and move right up the eastern portions of the blue ridge. we could see some fairly heavy rain overnight tonight. if you're thinking about going to the nationals game tonight, i think you're fine. will there be a brief shower? it's possible. but i think they're going to get the game in without any real problems. tomorrow we'll be watching out for the this back here. notice this line of showers and thunderstorms. this is actually a frontal boundary. this frontal boundary will help to sweep on through the area. that's what's going to help to giv

winchester, 77 cull peper, 74 in pax river. up toward baltimore, current temperature at 78 degrees. we're not seeing any rain. once again not just here but over the entire eastern half of the nation. we are clear as a bell. high pressure just sitting over the area. that area of high pressure will continue to keep things nice. we'll continue to see plenty of sunshine as we move on through the day tomorrow. guess what, high pressure still over the region. we see similar pattern. let's take it into thursday, see what changes. nothing. the area of high pressure moved from here to here. that is it. once again, plenty of sunshine on thursday. i think we'll get another great day on friday. saturday right now the day that we do think maybe a slight chance of a shower, but eve than doesn't look like much. overnight low temperatures tonight, down to 45 in winchester, 48 in culpepper, 54 in gaithersburg and 57 in washington. so, again, another chilly start, especially in those suburbs to the west. tomorrow morning, clear skies, another cool start, jacket weather once again, at least early. temper
